6. Canelas Bandstand
Inaugurated on June 24, 1907, on the Day of São João, this bandstand located in the parish of Canelas is a true example of Art Nouveau in Vila Nova de Gaia! The climb up Rua do Castelo is a bit steep, but it’s not in vain – a breathtaking view awaits you!
This street is like a balcony overlooking the majestic Douro River with an unmissable view of Cais de Gaia. It’s the perfect place to capture a photograph to preserve the moment and the scenery for eternity! The two banks are connected by the Luís I Bridge, from a less-known perspective.

2. Cândido dos Reis Street
Perpendicular to the Douro River, Rua Cândido dos Reis stretches over a 500-meter path, filled with Gaia’s culture and authenticity!
Immerse yourself in the traditional architecture of the houses on this street, located in the historic centre of Gaia, and soak in the vibrant atmosphere of the cafes and restaurants where voices recount the stories of our people. Take the opportunity to explore some traditional craft shops and do some shopping. 3. "Half Rabbit" - Bordalo II

Between Rua Dom Afonso III and Rua Guilherme Gomes Fernandes, you’ll find one of the works of the Portuguese street artist Bordalo II.
This work is noticed, even by the most inattentive. Titled “Meio Coelho” (Half Rabbit), it is a large-scale piece created from waste and industrial debris – the artist’s materials of choice – which he collects from the city and transforms into imposing sculptures.
